# using image glyphs in text

CursorCs holograms render text. That means you can use image glyphs in `text:` as long as your server setup already provides those glyphs through your resource-pack/plugin pipeline.

This guide shows the most common formats used by server owners:

* ItemsAdder
* Nexo
* CraftEngine

## Where you can use image glyphs

You can use glyph text in:

* normal hologram `text:`
* animation frames
* `change_text`
* typewriter text
* menu titles
* button labels

## ItemsAdder example

ItemsAdder image placeholders usually look like this:

```yaml
text: "%img_robloxbg%"
```

Full hologram example:

```yaml
roblox_bg:
  text: "%img_robloxbg%"
  offset_x: 0.0
  offset_y: 1.0
  offset_z: -1.9
  scale: 0.5
```

## Nexo example

Nexo image placeholders usually look like this:

```yaml
text: "%nexo_robloxbg%"
```

Full hologram example:

```yaml
roblox_bg:
  text: "%nexo_robloxbg%"
  offset_x: 0.0
  offset_y: 1.0
  offset_z: -1.9
  scale: 0.5
```

## CraftEngine example

If your setup uses CraftEngine image tags, the format can look like this:

```yaml
text: "<image:roblox:robloxbg>"
```

Full hologram example:

```yaml
roblox_bg:
  text: "<image:roblox:robloxbg>"
  offset_x: 0.0
  offset_y: 1.0
  offset_z: -1.9
  scale: 0.5
```

## Using glyphs in `change_text`

You can also swap to a glyph on hover or click:

```yaml
language_button:
  min_x: -0.30
  max_x: 0.30
  min_y: -0.10
  max_y: 0.15
  on_hover:
    - type: "change_text"
      hologram: "language_icon"
      newText: "%img_robloxbg%"
```

Nexo version:

```yaml
on_hover:
  - type: "change_text"
    hologram: "language_icon"
    newText: "%nexo_robloxbg%"
```

CraftEngine-style version:

```yaml
on_hover:
  - type: "change_text"
    hologram: "language_icon"
    newText: "<image:roblox:robloxbg>"
```

## Using glyphs in animation frames

You can use them in text animations too:

```yaml
icon_animation:
  text: ""
  animation:
    enabled: true
    type: "loop"
    interval_ticks: 5
    frames:
      - "%img_icon_1%"
      - "%img_icon_2%"
      - "%img_icon_3%"
```

## Which one should you use

Use the syntax that matches your resource-pack/plugin setup:

* ItemsAdder: `%img_name%`
* Nexo: `%nexo_name%`
* CraftEngine: `<image:namespace:name>`

If you are not sure, test a simple hologram first before using it inside a bigger UI.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://xcs-plugin.gitbook.io/cursorcs/guides/using-image-glyphs-in-text.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
